Plastic pipes and polymer materials only earn trust when they are tested — at the mill, at the factory gate, on incoming raw material and on finished fittings. CHENJI’s pipe and plastic testing range covers the complete picture: hydrostatic pressure and burst strength for installed-life confidence, drop-weight and impact toughness for handling resistance, and thermal and rheological tests that reveal how a polymer was made. From a PE water main to a PP-R fitting and a bag of resin pellets, there is a CHENJI machine to qualify it.
Overview
Quality control on plastics is not one test but a family of tests, each probing a different failure mode. A PP-R or PVC pipe must survive internal pressure for decades, so it goes onto a hydrostatic burst rig. It must survive rough handling and underground loads, so it is struck by a drop-weight tester. The raw material itself must meet the melt-flow spec the formulation demands, and the finished product must hold its shape up to a defined temperature. CHENJI covers PE, PP-R, PP-B, PP-A, PE-X, PVC, PVC-U and PVC-C pipe, plus the resin and part level.
The six machines below are the backbone of a modern plastic testing laboratory. Each is listed with the specifications exactly as delivered by Jinan CHENJI.

CXRW-300CL Heat Deformation / Vicat Softening Point Tester
The CXRW-300CL measures heat-distortion temperature (HDT) and Vicat softening point for plastics, hard rubber, nylon, electrical insulating materials, long-fiber composites and thermosetting laminates. Temperature control is from room temperature to 300 °C at ±0.5 °C maximum error, with a rising speed of 50 or 120 °C/h; deformation is read by a high-resolution digital micrometer over −0.1 to 10 mm at ±0.005 mm error. Three test frames use 64 mm and 100 mm specimen spans with a 4000 W heater and full safety protection. It follows GB/T1634.1–.2, GB/T8802, GB/T1633, ISO 75, ISO 306, ASTM D1525 and ASTM D648.
CXNR-400D Melt Flow Rate / Melt Volume Rate Meter
The CXNR-400D measures melt mass-flow rate (MFR) and melt volume-flow rate (MVR) of thermoplastics. The die is φ2.095±0.005 mm, barrel φ9.550±0.007 mm, and eight test loads run from 0.325 kg (piston + tray) up to 21.600 kg. Temperature range is 50–450 °C at ±0.2 °C accuracy with 0.1 °C resolution; a touch screen, built-in printer and automatic extrusion cut-off are standard, per ISO 1133, GB/T3682, ASTM D1238 and JB/T5456.
CDSC-500A Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC)
The CDSC-500A is a differential scanning calorimeter for polymers, plastics, rubber, coatings, food, pharmaceuticals and inorganic materials, including oxidation-induction-time (OIT) measurement. It offers a temperature range from room temperature to 800 °C at 0.1 °C resolution, heating rates of 10–80 °C/min, a DSC range of 0 to +500 mW with 0.01 mW resolution and 0.1 mW sensitivity. A touch screen, dual temperature probes and USB communication support fully automated, user-programmable measurement, per GB17391-1998 and ISO/CD11357/6.
Test Types
Six test families make up the CHENJI plastic lab, each answering a specific question:
- Hydrostatic pressure / burst — CXGJ-10C proves a pipe holds its rated internal pressure over time (0–9999 h) and finds its instantaneous burst point, per ISO 1167 and the PP-R/PE/PVC piping standards.
- Drop-weight impact — CJDW-630 recreates impact damage on pipes up to φ630 mm so you know handling and installation will not crack the product.
- Izod / Charpy impact — CXJU-22M measures the impact toughness of the molded part or rigid material, 1 to 22 J at 3.5 m/s.
- HDT / Vicat (thermal) — CXRW-300CL defines the temperature at which a material softens or distorts under load, a core product-specification number.
- MFI / MVR (rheology) — CXNR-400D measures how a melt flows under a defined load and temperature, the fingerprint of resin grade and processability.
- DSC (thermal analysis) — CDSC-500A detects melting, crystallization and oxidation behavior and measures OIT, supporting both QC and R&D.
FAQ
How is a hydrostatic pressure burst test performed?
A pipe sample is filled and pressurized inside a temperature-controlled water tank on the CXGJ-10C. The machine holds a set internal pressure and temperature and records the burst time (up to 9999 h), or raises pressure to find the instantaneous maximum burst value. Results confirm the pipe meets the relevant material standard, for example GB/T6111 or ISO 1167 for PE/PP-R/PVC systems.
What pipe diameters can a drop-weight tester handle?
The CJDW-630 covers φ10 mm to φ630 mm pipes with a programmable drop height of 50–2000 mm and drop weights from 0.25 to 16 kg. This spans small service pipes up to large drainage and underground pipes, with D25 mm and D90 mm hammer heads.
What do MFI/MVR results tell me?
Melt flow rate (MFR) and melt volume rate (MVR) measure how much melted polymer flows through a standard die under a set load and temperature in a given time, on the CXNR-400D. It is a fast index of molecular weight, resin grade and processability — a resin with too high or too low MFI will not run consistently on your molding or pipe line.
Why measure heat-distortion temperature and Vicat softening point?
These give the temperature limits of a plastic under load (HDT) and under a specified needle load (Vicat). They are data-sheet values that determine where a PP-R or PVC part can safely be used, whether a pipe will sag in hot-water service, and whether a compound was corrected correctly. The CXRW-300CL tests three specimens per run with automatic lifting.
Do I need both impact and thermal tests for the same product?
Often yes. Impact tests (CJDW-630, CXJU-22M) prove the part survives mechanical stress, while thermal tests (CXRW-300CL, CDSC-500A) prove it tolerates service temperature and that the material is the right grade. A complete QC program usually combines a hydrostatic or burst test with impact and thermal checks, which is exactly why CHENJI offers them as one range.
